About Me

As a theatre artist who returned to acting when I was 24, I was faced with those ever intrusive thoughts of “you are too old & it’s too late to get back into this”. Now at 34, 6 years of college, a pandemic, and years of life experience, I would want to tell my 24 year old self that you are right where you are meant to be.

I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in Spring ‘19. I took on various technical theatre gigs while I tried to get my bearings on auditioning. I was directing with Ellenville Central School District on the High School Production of Into The Woods in spring 2020. When Covid hit, our production was a week away from opening and didn’t know how to proceed, like the rest of us. During the summer, I worked as an essential worker managing a produce store, came home daily and returned to a hobby of creating music in my room. After watching a few RSC & National Theatre productions of Shakespeare, I knew that when theatre returned that I wanted to be a part of that work.

Today I would never imagine the amount of blessings I have be given since graduating. Going from Shakespeare & Company’s month long intensive in 2023, working locally and regionally on various Shakespeare productions, directing Shrek, The Musical at my Alma Mater in Spring 2025 and now beginning a journey back to a musical theatre. Eventually I would like to create a space for muslim theatre artists to create and share their stories.

Insha’ Allah that will become a reality.

Looking forward to seeing what the future holds and looking forward to working with you wherever you are .

Assalamu alaikum
